What you enter in the calculators

The calculators compute results in your browser. The grade, years of service, housing area, and other choices you make are used to compute the result on the page. This build does not send those entries to a server or store them.

Stored on your device

If you switch between light and dark mode, the site saves that choice in your browser's local storage under the namemp-theme, so the next page you open uses it. The choice is not sent to us. Clearing your browser's site data removes it.

Search

The search on the Search page runs in your browser. The site builds the list of pages into the page, so typing there does not send your words to us. The search icon in the header opens that page without a search term.

The search box on the 404 page is different. Submitting it loads the Search page with your words in the page address, for example /search/?q=E-5. The address is part of the request the server receives, so it may appear in the hosting logs described below. Do not type personal details into any search box.

Downloads and printing

The CSV download of a pay chart is created in your browser from the figures already on the page. The print button opens your browser's print dialog. Neither one sends anything to us.

Fonts, scripts, and other files

The font, the scripts, and the styles are served from this site. The pages do not load fonts, scripts, or style sheets from other companies’ servers. Avatars on the expert pages are local image files, not links to an outside service.

Cookies

The site’s own code does not set cookies. The only stored value is the theme setting described above. Your browser may still keep its own records, and the hosting service may set its own technical cookies. Check your browser settings to manage them.

Email

The contact address opens your email program with a new message. The site has no contact form. The message goes through your email provider, and we receive only what you choose to write. The contact pagelists what to include in a correction.

What you can control

• You can use the calculators and charts without giving any personal information.
• You can clear the theme setting by clearing this site’s data in your browser.
• You can avoid search boxes if you do not want a search term in a page address.
• You can contact us without an account, and you can ask what the site holds about you by writing to the address above.

Analytics and advertising

This build includes no analytics scripts and no advertising. If that changes, this page will be updated before the change is published.

Links to other sites

Pages link to official sources such as DFAS, DTMO, the Federal Register, and the U.S. Code. Those sites have their own privacy policies, which apply when you visit them.

Server logs

The company or service that hosts the site may keep standard server logs, such as request time and address, for its own operation and security. This site does not add its own logging.
