Basic pay: the same for every branch

Monthly basic pay is one schedule for all uniformed services, set by grade and years of service (37 U.S.C. § 203(a)(1)). The 2026 rates are in Executive Order 14368, Schedule 8, effective January 1, 2026. The Navy chart uses that same table.

Special and incentive pays, promotion timelines, and service-specific pay rules. This site does not publish these for Navy yet. Basic allowance for housing depends on the housing area and is not a branch rate. For housing, use the BAH calculator.

The DoD comparable-grades table prints one title column for the Navy and the Coast Guard. The table below uses that column for each enlisted and officer grade. Titles do not change basic pay, which is set by grade and years of service. The source prints two E-9 rows: the Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy, and the general E-9 title, Master Chief Petty Officer.

The DFAS notes name senior positions that have their own basic pay rule. Two of the listed positions are Navy positions.

  • Enlisted, E-9. For the positions listed in the notes, including the Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy, basic pay is one amount regardless of years of service.
  • Officer, O-7 to O-10. For the positions listed in the notes, including the Chief of Naval Operations, basic pay is limited to the Executive Schedule level II rate for the calendar year.

The five housing areas above are ranked by the E-5 rate with dependents in the 2025 DTMO file. They are housing areas, not Navy duty stations or pay rates. The gap between the two columns is the dependency effect for E-5 in that area. It is the difference between the with-dependents and without-dependents rate, and it differs from area to area.

The BAH guide explains how the rate is set, and theBAH calculator covers every housing area and pay grade in the 2025 file. DTMO’s 2026 rates are not imported on this site.

Active-duty Navy members are paid on the DFAS active-duty calendar, which also covers the other services. For January 2026, the first pay date is Jan. 15 and the second is Jan. 30. The 2026 pay dates page lists the full year.

These pays are not Navy rates, but a Navy member can receive them when the qualification rules are met. TheMarine Corps page lists the same rules with the full rate table.

Each rank page shows 2026 basic pay by years of service for that grade.

  • Navy promotion criteria. The site has no verified Navy promotion table yet.
  • Navy-specific special pays, such as sea pay or submarine pay. Only the service-wide pays above are listed.
  • Navy rank pages beyond E-5 and E-6. The national 2026 chart covers every grade.
