Basic pay: the same for every branch

Monthly basic pay is one schedule for all uniformed services, set by grade and years of service (37 U.S.C. § 203(a)(1)). The 2026 rates are in Executive Order 14368, Schedule 8, effective January 1, 2026. The Coast Guard chart uses that same table.

Special and incentive pays, promotion timelines, and service-specific pay rules. This site does not publish these for Coast Guard yet. Basic allowance for housing depends on the housing area and is not a branch rate. For housing, use the BAH calculator.

Coast Guard rank titles

The DoD comparable-grades table prints one title column for the Navy and the Coast Guard. The table below uses that column for each enlisted and officer grade. Titles do not change basic pay, which is set by grade and years of service.

Senior positions with a fixed or capped basic pay rule

The DFAS notes name a few senior positions that have their own basic pay rule. Two of them are Coast Guard positions.

  • Enlisted, E-9. Basic pay is set at one amount regardless of years of service for the senior enlisted positions listed in the notes, including the Master Chief Petty Officer of the Coast Guard. The list also includes the Sergeant Major of the Army and the Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy.
  • Officer, O-7 to O-10. For the positions listed in the notes, including the Commandant of the Coast Guard, basic pay is limited to the Executive Schedule level II rate for the calendar year. The notes give the monthly limit.

Pay dates

Active-duty Coast Guard members are paid on the DFAS active-duty calendar, which the same DFAS page lists for Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, and Space Force. For January 2026, the first pay date is Jan. 15 and the second is Jan. 30. The 2026 pay dates page lists the full year.

Housing allowance

BAH does not depend on the branch. A Coast Guard member in a given grade, with the same dependency status, in the same housing area receives the same monthly BAH as a member of another service. The BAH guideexplains how the rate is set, and the BAH calculator shows the 2025 DTMO rates by housing area.

Special pays that apply to every branch

These pays are not Coast Guard rates, but a Coast Guard member can receive them when the qualification rules are met. TheMarine Corps page lists the same rules with the full rate table.

  • Coast Guard-specific allowances and special pays beyond the service-wide pays above.
  • Coast Guard rank pages. None are published yet; the national 2026 chart covers every grade.
